Purpose & Philosophy
Founded in 1999, Urantia Book International School (UBIS) brings readers from around the world together to explore The Urantia Book through thoughtful study and discussion. Our small online classes are led by experienced facilitators who encourage every participant to engage with the teachings, share insights, and learn from one another.
Rather than lectures, UBIS courses are built around carefully crafted questions that invite reflection and conversation. Each student's contribution enriches the discussion, creating a collaborative learning experience where understanding grows through shared exploration.
UBIS is designed to help students:

Our Guiding Principle
UBIS exists to help readers experience the teachings of The Urantia Book firsthand. Our role is not to tell students what to think, but to provide thoughtful questions and a respectful environment in which they can discover, explore, and deepen their own understanding of the revelation.
Our educational philosophy is inspired by the Jesusonian model of teaching—one that encourages inquiry, reflection, personal experience, and meaningful dialogue. Through this non-interpretive approach, students learn not only from the text, but also from the thoughtful insights and experiences of fellow readers from around the world.
As students grow in understanding and confidence, many also discover a desire to share the teachings with others. In this way, UBIS serves as a place where future teachers can develop naturally through study, discussion, and experience.
The entire ascendant plan of mortal progression is characterized by the practice of giving out to other beings new truth and experience just as soon as acquired. You work your way through the long school of Paradise attainment by serving as teachers to those pupils just behind you in the scale of progression. 30:3.9 (339.6)
Our Teaching Method
Since the revelation was presented in written form, every person can have their own first-hand experience with the text. UBIS provides tools to assist each student to experience the teachings first-hand, promoting, improving, and expanding comprehension of the concepts through a non-interpretive, non-invasive and non-aggressive pedagogy.
[W]e know that there dwells within the human mind a fragment of God, that there sojourns with the human soul the Spirit of Truth; and we further know that these spirit forces conspire to enable material man to grasp the reality of spiritual values and to comprehend the philosophy of universe meanings. But even more certainly we know that these spirits of the Divine Presence are able to assist man in the spiritual appropriation of all truth contributory to the enhancement of the ever progressing reality of personal religious experience–God-consciousness. 0:12.13 (17.2)
